Why climate strikes matter

In this Our Changing Climate environmental video essay, I look at why protest matters. Specifically, I look at environmental protests like the recent September climate strikes in order to understand protest’s place in creating much-needed climate action. Via various organizations like the Sunrise Movement, Zero Hour, Fridays for Future, and One Million of Us, youth protests across the world are crying out to world leaders to act strongly on climate change. Greta Thunberg certainly has added fuel to this growing fire, but she’s not the only climate protest leader. These movements show not only the strength and solidarity of a new wave of climate activists but the mounting pressure on politicians to create broad-based, inclusive, and transformative policies that combat climate change.
