​The climate crisis is worsening floods around the world – but there’s another reason we see so much damage from these disasters. In many places, infrastructure was built with no regard for increasing rainfalls or warmer temperatures.

The good news is that building resilient infrastructure is actually cheaper than recovering from damage after a disaster. We spoke to the Sunrise Movement’s John Paul Mejia and geography professor Jola Ajibade about what it will take to ensure that communities facing increasing floods don’t just survive, but thrive.
